ACS@ONE: Turning Climate Commitments into Tangible Impact

In a bold move to accelerate Africa’s green transition and create millions of sustainable jobs, Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA) and key partners are set to host a groundbreaking event: The Africa Climate Summit at One (ACS@ONE) Conference. This first-of-its-kind reflection conference, scheduled for February 2025 in Nairobi, marks a crucial milestone in Kenya’s path toward a sustainable, job-rich future.

As part of the journey to ACS@One,  JLA will host two climate action convenings at the Radisson Blu, Nairobi Upperhill Hotel, on 4th and 5th November 2024, alongside key partners such as the German Corporation for International Cooperation, Kenya (GIZ KE), Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry.

Leaders, experts, and stakeholders will gather to tackle two fundamental themes that sit at the heart of Africa’s climate response. The first day will focus on Climate Adaptation and Resilience, exploring strategies to build robust, employment-generating solutions for climate-vulnerable communities. Day Two will spotlight Youth and Children’s Inclusion in Climate Action, addressing how to prepare the next generation for the opportunities emerging in the green economy.

The timing of these pre-summit gatherings is strategic, building on the momentum of the historic Nairobi Declaration while paving the way for concrete action. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the Africa Climate Summit’s achievements, celebrate early wins, and candidly address implementation challenges.

The November sessions are just the beginning. Four additional themed convenings will follow, exploring critical areas such as natural capital utilization, energy transformation, green industrialization, and financial systems innovation. Together, these six pre-summit events will create a comprehensive framework for turning the Nairobi Declaration’s promises into real-world opportunities.

The future of work is green, and it’s taking shape right here in Kenya. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of Africa’s sustainable transformation and set a powerful example for the entire continent.

Join us in shaping this green future!
