During the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), held at the UN Headquarters in New York from September 19 to 26, 2023, members of the Africa Climate Action Advocacy Initiative (ACAAI) convened at The Africa Center in New York during the Future of Africa event.
ACAAI, comprising Jacob’s Ladder Africa, the African Leadership Institute, the Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A), and The Africa Center, began as a collective endeavor less than a year and a half ago. Their shared mission was to address critical issues necessary for Africa’s meaningful participation in global climate discussions.
ACAAI has since embarked on a multi-country research initiative focused on understanding the youth’s perception of climate issues in Africa. Additionally, they are actively running the Africa Climate Ambassadors Programme, aimed at amplifying voices that advocate for the vast climate opportunities in Africa.
