As the second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) draws near, Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA) is set to shape the agenda as a catalyst for Africa’s most urgent climate and development priorities by championing green job creation and both amplifying and elevating diverse African voices to influence policy and drive multi-stakeholder collaboration.
The Summit is set to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 8-10 September 2025 with pre-summit side events being held from 5-7 September 2025. It will be co-convened by the Government of Ethiopia and the African Union Commission (AUC). Guided by Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want and rooted in African-led solutions, the Summit will focus on translating high-level commitments into tangible outcomes.
Structured across three days, ACS2 will spotlight:
- Nature- and technology-based solutions for adaptation and development
- Resilience-building strategies for climate-vulnerable populations
- Innovative climate finance models, shifting from aid dependency to investment in local ingenuity
At ACS2, Jacob’s Ladder Africa will lead from the front by creating a bold, immersive, African-led solutions-focused space that will demonstrate how climate action is also economic action, particularly for Africa’s youth, women and indigenous communities. Dubbed the Green Jobs and Skills Pavillion, it aims to advocate for and showcase this critical but marginalised mass, as co-creators, contributors and decision-makers in the green transition.

The Pavilion will centre on green jobs and skills in three critical high-potential sectors:
- Renewable Energy: With decentralised solar, off-grid systems, and clean cooking, the sector could generate up to 4.5 million jobs by 2030
- Sustainable Agriculture: As the continent’s largest employer, the shift in agricultural practices could unlock 700,000 jobs, of which more than half (377,000) will come from climate smart agriculture technology
- E-Mobility: A projected US $2.85 million market by 2030, in the Middle East and Africa creating employment across manufacturing, logistics, servicing, and software.
ACS2 offers a decisive opportunity to move beyond ambition into action with implementation, accountability, and inclusive leadership at its core.
This initiative builds on the momentum established when JLA initiated ACS@ONE, a first-of-its-kind series of thematic convenings in November and December 2024, recognising the importance of continuity after the Nairobi Declaration’s call at the Inaugural Africa Climate Summit in 2023, to make it biennial. These convenings revisited Summit outcomes, celebrated early progress, and unpacked persistent implementation challenges. Discussions ranged from climate adaptation and youth inclusion to natural capital, energy transitions, green industrialisation, and innovation in financial systems.
