Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA) has released the ACS@ONE Reflections Report 2024, capturing key insights and recommendations from Kenya’s first civil society-led climate convenings. The six dialogues addressed issues central to Africa’s transition:
- Natural Capital & Asset Utilisation: Moving beyond conservation rhetoric to policies that actually work for local communities.
- Energy Transitions: Fast-tracking Kenya’s electric mobility plans and harmonising regional energy policies across East Africa.
- Green Industrialisation: Accelerating everything from Nairobi’s BRT system to innovative geothermal extraction.
- Climate Finance: Demanding transparent definitions, equitable access, and an end to bureaucratic barriers.
Each theme highlights both progress and persistent gaps, with practical proposals ranging from scaling climate-smart agriculture and electric mobility to reforming access to finance and integrating indigenous knowledge.
The report precedes the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) in September 2025 and serves as a reference point for governments, development partners, private sector actors, and communities preparing to engage. It situates Kenya’s leadership within a broader continental conversation, linking outcomes from ACS@ONE to global processes such as COP29 and COP30.
At its core, the report emphasises the importance of evidence-based action, regional cooperation, and opening pathways for youth and marginalised groups to shape and benefit from Africa’s green transition.
As ACS2 approaches, the ACS@ONE Reflections Report 2024 stands as a timely resource and rallying call. It offers fresh insights, innovative approaches, and inclusive perspectives that can guide the continent’s next phase of leadership.
Jacob’s Ladder Africa invites all stakeholders to explore the report, amplify its findings, and join in advancing Africa’s green economy agenda because the continent’s sustainable future depends on bold, united action today.
